Jordin Smith went 1-2 and hit a home run, helping the Lady Cardinals to a 5-2 victory over Mena on Saturday at Farmington. She homered in the third inning.  Brooke Larkin got the win for the Lady Cardinals. She allowed two runs over four innings. She struck out none, walked none and surrendered six hits.

The Lady Cardinals drop 4-1 game to Greenbrier despite efforts of Blackburn
Lauren Blackburn did all she could to give the Lady Cardinals a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Greenbrier, as the Lady Cardinals lost 4-1 in five innings at Farmington on Saturday.
Blackburn was hot from the plate for the Lady Cardinals. She went 1-2 and drove in one. She doubled in the fifth inning.
Hardin recorded the win for Greenbrier. She allowed one run over five innings. Hardin struck out three, walked none and gave up three hits. Greenbrier jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A double by Slaughter, scoring Reynolds started the inning off. Greenbrier stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring three runs on a sacrifice fly by Hardin, an RBI single by Trudeau, and a walk by Losley.

FS Southside outdone by Wiedner and the Lady Cardinals, 4-3

Payton Wiedner went 2-3 as the Lady Cardinals took home a 4-3 victory over FS Southside in four innings at Farmington on Saturday. Her big hit was a walkoff 2RBI double as time expired in the tournament game to beat the Lady Rebels.
Brooke Larkin got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed three runs over four innings. Larkin struck out four, walked two and gave up three hits.
The top of the second saw FS Southside take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Hensley, bringing home Unger and Eveld started the inning off.  The Lady Cardinals scored two runs of their own in the third. The Lady Cardinals scored on an RBI single by Oakley Sisemore and a groundout by Jessica Foster.

Larkin hits and pitches the Lady Cardinals to 1-0 victory  

Brooke Larkin came up big at the dish and in the circle, leading the Lady Cardinals to a 1-0 win over Heritage on Friday at Farmington in the first round of the Farmington/Fayetteville Invitational Tournament. Larkin was solid at the plate for the Lady Cardinals, going 2-3 and driving in one in the first inning.. She singled in the first and third innings. Larkin's effort enough to carry the Lady Cardinals past Prairie Grove, 9-3

 Brooke Larkin pitched seven innings for her first varsity win, and the Lady Cardinals defeated Prairie Grove 3-0 in seven innings on Thursday at Prairie Grove.  The game's last lead went to FHS, thanks to a second inning rally that saw 7 runs cross the plate, after a three-run home run in the first inning by PG's Addison Evans.  Oakley Sisemore and Jess Foster had 3 hits each, while Sara Jones, Lauren Blackburn and Christy Moore had two hits each.   Ryan Vaughn reached base four times in the game for Lady Mounties. She scored three runs and had two RBIs. She homered in the first inning. Haylee Zimmerman got the win for Lady Mounties. The Lady Cardinals use big fourth inning to beat Greenwood, 13-1  The Lady Cardinals beat Greenwood 13-1 in five innings on Friday at Farmington after an 11-run explosion in the fourth inning. Lauren Blackburn racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Lady Cardinals. She doubled in the fourth innings. Greenwood couldn't get anything going so long as Jordin Smith was on the hill. Greenwood managed just two hits off of Smith, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her five innings of work. The Lady Cardinals stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Jessica Foster and a walk by Brooklyn Keeling. Early lead gives Lady Cardinals easy victory over Berryville, 17-0!

The Lady Cardinals refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Berryville, recording a 17-0 victory on Monday at Berryville. Six runs in the first three innings allowed the Lady Cardinals to put the game away early. A wild pitch in the first inning and a two-run error and a wild pitch during the second inning fueled the Lady Cardinals' offense early. It was a good day at the plate for the Lady Cardinals' Oakley Sisemore. Sisemore went 2-4, drove in one and scored four runs. 

The Lady Cardinals' Jordin Smith kept Berryville off the scoreboard for all five innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up seven.

The Lady Cardinals added two more runs in the top of the third. A wild pitch scored Lindsey Blackburn to start the scoring in the inning. The Lady Cardinals tacked on another five runs in the fourth. Sisemore doubled, scoring Christi Moore to start the inning. That was followed up by Payton Wiedner's single, bringing home Sisemore. The Lady Cardinals piled on six more runs in the top of the fifth. Lindsey Blackburn's single got things going, scoring Sisemore and Wiedner.

The Lady Cardinals make the most of six hits in 7-6 victory over Prairie Grove     

The Lady Cardinals and Prairie Grove each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Lady Cardinals capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 7-6 win at Farmington. Prairie Grove got eight hits compared with just six for the Lady Cardinals, but Prairie Grove stranded eight on base.

Christi Moore drove in Sara Beth Jones with the winning run on a one-out double to right field in the bottom of the 8th inning. Lauren Blackburn racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lady Cardinals. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning. Lauren and Lindsey Blackburn both scored on a double (twin!!) steal combined with a throwing error to tie the game at 6 in the 6th. Brooke Larkin recorded the win for the Lady Cardinals even though she allowed six runs over eight innings. Larkin struck out five, walked three and gave up eight hits.

     The Lady Cardinals jumped out to an early lead on Gentry and captured a 19-4 victory on Tuesday at Farmington.  

Thirteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Lady Cardinals to put the game away early. A passed ball, an error, and a two-run double by Christi Moore in the first inning and a two-run double by Jordin Smith, a two-run single by Moore, an error, and a fielder's choice during the second inning fueled the Lady Cardinals' offense early. Moore racked up six RBIs on three hits for the Lady Cardinals. 

    Smith recorded the win for the Lady Cardinals. She allowed four runs over four innings. Smith struck out six, walked one and gave up seven hits. The Lady Cardinals pounded Gentry pitching, as six hitters combined for 11 hits, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

Lady Cards Runners-up!

The 2013 Farmington/Fayetteville Tournament is in the books, and congratulations to the Greenbrier Lady Panthers for sailing through undefeated in four games to claim the title! They dropped the Farmington Lady Cardinals in the finale, 9-3, to win the championship plaque, with the Lady Cards coming in as runner-up!

The Lady Cards reached the final game with a strong semifinal win over Mena, and were led by Jordin Smith's 2-run homer, CRUSHED over the left field fence. 

A huge THANK YOU goes out to all our parents and friends for their hours of volunteer labor to make the tourney a success and a lot of fun for the teams and the fans. Beautiful weather, great games and super performances all around! Thanks again to all!

Farmington’s Wiedner Signs With Crowder

FARMINGTON — Amidst a sea of red, Farmington senior Payton Wiedner signed a letter of intent to play women’s college softball for Crowder College, at Nevada, Mo., on Tuesday.

    Wiedner is a three-time All-Conference selection for the Lady Cardinals and was part of Farmington’s 2011 state championship team. A versatile athlete, Wiedner has played second base, shortstop and third base, which is where she will be this season.

    “She puts in extra work and puts in extra effort daily, not only on the field but also in the classroom,” said Farmington coach Randy Osnes. “She’s a natural leader. She doesn’t have to talk a lot. By her work ethic and by her actions, she leads by example.”

    Last season, she was second on the team in runs batted in with 30 and achieved an on-base percentage of .472. with a batting average of .386.  Wiedner plans to pursue a business major, specializing in Human Resources.

The Lady Cardinals fall 4-1 to Southside Batesville

Payton Wiedner went 1-3, but the Lady Cardinals still fell to Southside Batesville 4-1 in seven innings on Thursday at Ashdown.


Faller got the win for Southside Batesville. 

She allowed one run over five innings. She struck out one, walked one and surrendered five hits. Southside jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Southside caught fire after Dubose singled. Then Tosh singled.

The lead stayed with Southside Batesville after the fifth, when it scored two runs on a two-run error.

A tight game was decided in the sixth inning as the Lady Cardinals fell to Mena 8-7 in seven innings on Tuesday at Farmington.  The Lady Cards were led by two-hit games from Brooke Larkin, Lauren Blackburn and Janna Doss.

The Lady Cardinals drop Waldron 6-3

Four first-inning runs helped the Lady Cardinals to a 6-3 win over Waldron at Farmington on Monday.  Brooke Larkin was hot from the plate for the Lady Cardinals. Larkin went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

Jordin Smith got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed three runs over seven innings. She struck out four, walked four and surrendered eight hits. One run in the top of the second helped Waldron close its deficit to 4-1. A wild pitch fueled Waldron's comeback. The Waldron threat came to an end when Jordin Smith finally got Emily Richmond to ground out.

The Lady Cardinals got one-run rallies in the third inning and the sixth. In the third, the Lady Cardinals scored on a solo home run by Larkin.

After pushing across two runs in the top of the seventh, Waldron faced just a 6-3 deficit. An RBI single by McKenna Root and an RBI single by Brianna Allen set off Waldron's rally. Finally, Smith got Tori Wadkins to to end the game.


Lady Cards will play Booneville in the Region Semifinal Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

All-around effort leads the Lady Cardinals past Gravette 4-2

2013 District Champions! 

Jordin Smith was strong at the plate and in the circle in carrying the Lady Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over Gravette on Tuesday at Ozark.

Jordin Smith racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Lady Cardinals. She homered in the third inning and singled in the second and fifth innings. In the circle, Smith kept contact to a minimum, striking out 11 Gravette batters. She allowed no earned runs, seven hits and two walks over seven innings.

The top of the first saw Gravette take an early lead, 1-0. The Gravette attack began with a single from Jaye Chalk.  But the game was never in doubt after the third, as the Lady Cardinals scored four runs on the grand slam by Smith.

The Lady Cardinals refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Pea Ridge, recording a 14-2 victory on Monday at Ozark.

Eleven runs in the first three innings allowed the Lady Cardinals to put the game away early. A groundout by Lindsey Blackburn in the first inning and a two-run home run byBrooke Larkin, an RBI single by Sara Beth Jones, an error, and a groundout by Lindsey Blackburn during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Lady Cardinals. Jones racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lady Cardinals.

Jordin Smith got the win for the Lady Cardinals. She allowed two runs over four innings. She struck out three, walked two and gave up four hits. The Lady Cardinals hammered Pea Ridge pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 10 hits, 11 RBIs and seven runs scored.

The Lady Cardinals quickly matched Pea Ridge's strong inning with a one-run inning of their own in the first. After a quick strike from Pea Ridge, the Lady Cardinals responded with five runs in the third. The Lady Cardinals scored on a groundout by Christi Moore, an RBI single by Jones, a two-run double by Payton Wiedner, and an RBI single by Lindsey Blackburn. The Lady Cardinals piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A wild pitch scored Dakotah Holland to start the scoring in the inning.

Oakley Sisemore put herself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Lady Cardinals. She doubled in the first inning, singled in the second and third innings, and tripled in the sixth inning.

Brooke Larkin got the win for the Lady Cardinals. She allowed two runs over six innings. Larkin struck out two, walked two and gave up 11 hits.

The Lady Cardinals' Lindsey Blackburn, Sara Beth Jones, Maria McPhersonand Sisemore combined for 12 hits and four RBIs.

The top of the first saw the Lady Cardinals take an early lead, 1-0. After Sisemore doubled, Payton Wiedner singled, bringing home Sisemore.

The Lady Cardinals tacked on another three runs in the third. A error scored Sisemore for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Lindsey Blackburn's double, plating Wiedner.

The Lady Cardinals built upon their lead with two runs in the sixth. A clutch error scored Jones to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Sisemore's triple, bringing home McPherson.

The Lady Cardinals outhit Vilonia in 3-0 defeat

The Lady Cardinals lost 3-0 in seven innings at Vilonia on Saturday, despite outhitting Vilonia six to five.

Leah Thomason recorded the win for Vilonia. She tossed seven innings of shutout ball. She struck out three, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Vilonia never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring one run on an RBI single by Sarah Montgomery.

Vilonia scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the sixth. In the fourth, Vilonia scored on a passed ball, scoring Cacy Simpson.

The Lady Cardinals and FS Southside both had scoring chances on Tuesday, but it was the Lady Cardinals that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 4-3 win at Farmington.

FS Southside had nine hits compared with the Lady Cardinals' four, but FS Southside stranded 11 runners on base.

2013 Champs!

The Lady Cards clinched their undefeated 1-AAAA Conference season Monday with a 15-0 run-rule victory over the Lincon Lady Wolves at Lady Cardinals Field.  Jordin Smith got the win in the circle to go to 8-3, and struck out 4 while only allowing two hits. Offensively, Sara Beth Jones, Oakley Sisemore, Brooke Larkin and Payton Wiedner each had two hits. Larkin had 4 RBI, while Lindsey Blackburn, Maria McPherson, and Lauren Blackburn each had two RBI.

The Lady Cardinals top Heritage in back-and-forth affair, 6-4

The Lady Cardinals and Heritage passed the lead back and forth five times on Friday at Heritage, but in the end the Lady Cardinals pulled out a 6-4 win in seven innings over Heritage.

The Lady Cardinals finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. The Lady Cardinals scored on a two-run single by Lindsey Blackburn off Dasha Donahoe, scoring Maria McPherson and Oakley Sisemore.

Payton Wiedner racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lady Cardinals. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Jordin Smith worked out of five tricky spots for the Lady Cardinals. She pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on three hits. Jordin Smith faced her toughest moment in the seventh inning.

The Lady Cardinals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by Wiedner, scoring Sisemore started the inning. Heritage answered the Lady Cardinals' top inning with three runs of its own in the first. Heritage scored on an RBI double by Abby Newton, and two wild pitches.

The Lady Cardinals jump on Pearidge early and coast to 17-0 win


The Lady Cardinals jumped out to an early lead on Pea Ridge and captured a 17-0 victory on Thursday at Pea Ridge. With the win, FHS moved to 6-0 in 1-AAAA conference play, securing the top seed in the 2013 Conference Tournament in Ozark.

     The game was decided quickly as the Lady Cardinals exerted their will early with 13 runs in the first three innings. An error in the first inning and a two-run double by Payton Wiedner, an RBI single by Brooke Larkin, and a two-run home run by Jordin Smith during the second inning fueled the Lady Cardinals' offense early.

Lindsey Blackburn racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Lady Cardinals.

     The Lady Cardinals' Jordin Smith kept Pea Ridge off the scoreboard for all four innings. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up five K's.

An error, a two-run double by Brooke Larkin, a two-run home run by Jordin Smith, and an RBI single by Christi Moore in the first inning and , a sacrifice fly by Lauren Blackburn, an RBI single by Janna Doss, a two-run single by Payton Wiedner, and an RBI single by Lindsey Blackburn during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Lady Cardinals. Smith racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Lady Cardinals, including her second homer of the day.

Offenses dominate as the Lady Cards outscore Cabot 12-11

Pitchers had a tough day during the game between the Lady Cardinals and Cabot, as the two teams put up 23 runs combined in a 12-11 the Lady Cardinals win. Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 21 hits, including eight extra base hits.

Jordin Smith racked up five RBIs on one hit for the Lady Cardinals.She homered with a Grand Slam in the third inning. Smith got the win in relief for the Lady Cardinals, pitching three innings and allowed six runs.

The top of the first saw the Lady Cardinals take an early lead, 7-0. The Lady Cardinals attack began with a double from Payton Wiedner. Then moved Wiedner from second to third. Brooke Larkin singled, bringing home Wiedner. The scoreboard lit up again for the Lady Cardinals when Blackburn scored on a walk by Jordin Smith, Bodine scored on an RBI single by Lauren Blackburn, Smith and Blackburn scored on a two-run error, McPherson scored on an RBI single by Oakley Sisemore, and Moore scored on a walk by Lindsey Blackburn.

Cabot scored seven runs of its own in the first. Cabot scored on a two-run double by Hill, an error, an error, a groundout by Allgood, and a two-run triple by Anderson.

The Lady Cardinals went up for good in the third, scoring five runs on an RBI double by Lindsey Blackburn and the slam by Smith.

Despite hit advantage, the Lady Cardinals drop 6-4 game to Nettleton


The Lady Cardinals lost 6-4 in five innings at Cabot on Saturday, despite outhitting Nettleton seven to six. Lindsey Blackburn racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Lady Cardinals. She homered in the first inning.


Johnson got the win for Nettleton. She allowed four runs over 3 2/3 innings. Johnson struck out none, walked none and gave up seven hits. Nettleton was sparked by Kee and McMillin, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.


In the bottom of the first, the Lady Cardinals grabbed the early lead, 2-0. After Payton Wiedner singled, the Lady Cardinals kept the pressure on Nettleton pitching, as Lindsey Blackburn homered, scoring Wiedner. The Lady Cardinals got one-run rallies in the second inning and the fourth. In the second, the Lady Cardinals scored on a passed ball, plating Dakotah Holland.


The lead stayed with Nettleton after the third, when it scored five runs on two doubles, a sacrifice fly by Peterson, and an RBI single by Thomas. A one-run fourth inning helped bring the Lady Cardinals within two. A walk by Wiedner fueled the Lady Cardinals' comeback.

Gravette outdone by Sisemore and the Lady Cards, 8-5

Oakley Sisemore collected three hits, helping the Lady Cardinals to an 8-5 victory over Gravette on Thursday at Gravette.

She singled in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Even though Brooke Larkin allowed five runs over seven innings she still recorded the victory. Larkin struck out eight, walked none and gave up eight hits.

The Lady Cardinals stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Payton Wiedner, two errors, and a groundout by Jordin Smith.

A three-run fifth inning helped bring Gravette within two. A two-run single by Jaye Chalk and an RBI single by Samantha Pruitt set off Gravette rally. The Gravette threat came to an end when Larkin finally got Kendra Greenhaw to fly out.

The Lady Cardinals added three more runs in the top of the sixth. A error scored Sisemore for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Lauren Blackburn's single, plating Wiedner.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Gravette faced just a 8-5 deficit. An RBI double by Meagan Ward and an RBI single by Destaney Wishongave Gravette life. Finally, Larkin induced an inning-ending ground out from Chalk.
